The original Warcraft III CD Key can be used to register up to five copies of the game, which is allowed under Blizzard's product policy. The CD keys are sold by two different publishers: Asmus for European versions, and Vivendi Universal Games for American versions. Currently Asmus does not sell CD keys to people living outside Europe. Vivendi Universal Games does not sell CD keys to people who are not in America or Canada. Each campaign consists of four or so scenarios, which are played through sequentially. In contrast to the other warcraft games, each scenario plays out once before the player enters a new one. The campaign consists of four scenarios. In Europe and Asia, these are "The Dark Portal", "The Frozen Throne", "Siege of Orgrimmar" and "Beyond the Dark Portal". In America and Canada they are "The Dark Portal", "The Frozen Throne", "Siege of Orgrimmar" and "Beyond the Dark Portal". Players were able to create custom games for up to 12 players in either team or free-for-all modes. They used a template from the from the original Warcraft III's editor to create their customized game before entering it in a tournament. Maps were created using the Hero Editor, an improved version of the map editor for WarCraft II. Players could create custom maps that were stored on their hard drive. A number of ways were available to players to share their maps with others, including uploading to Battle.net or playing on other people's custom maps for a limited period of time before they are removed by Blizzard. Maps could be either clan-only to prevent public accesses, or free-for-all with all players allowed to play them freely. On September 9, 2005, Blizzard announced it would no longer be offering custom maps due to the potential for abuse by hackers and cheats. cfa1e77820
